We believe that creating a climate for change needs to be done with God, not just in general, and that’s why doing it as a church can be an important journey of discipleship.
This is why we want you to live lent with us this year. It’s only 40 days, but it will have an impact forever. As your church journeys through hard questions and tests out difficult solutions in a safer, time limited way, we will find ourselves becoming people who act with greater compassion and commitment to God for the whole of our lives.
Why should your church commit to a living lent, and how?
Worship Resources
Why not hold a Living Lent service in your church? You can find resources to help you choose prayers and worship material on the Signing the Faith + website here:

Ash Wednesday
Why not make your Ash Wednesday service eco-themed? Ash Wednesday is a time to think about how we came from the earth, and how we will return to the earth once again at the end of our lives. Why not use your Ash service this year to contemplate how are lives are linked to the environment?
We have produced an Ash Wednesday service plan, including prayers, sermon ideas, readings and blessings. You can use part of the service as appropriate to your context.
Launch Living Lent!
You could hold a launch party for Living Lent, to kickstart your church or community group in getting started with changing their lifestyles for the climate. This is a chance to commit as a collective, and to commit your Lent challenge to God.
Why not host a pancake party? Using our suggestions, you can find out how far your pancake toppings have travelled, and even challenge each other to make the most environmentally friendly pancake!
Joy in Enough: Confession
Green Christian have produced The Joy in Enough confession. This is a call to the church in Britain to acknowledge our complicity in consumerism and climate change, and to use the season of Lent to talk about these topics as a community.
It is a call to repent, and to seek contentment, justice and a life in balance with the natural world. It is a call to freedom from the endless want-creation of consumerism, and to find joy in enough.
Find ways to use the confession on the Joy in Enough website.
